The Secretary of International Relations of the Communist Party of Spain, Manuel Pineda, says that fascism is fueled by social networks, which “are a hotbed of hatred, fear and anxiety.”
This was stated on Tuesday, at the first World Congress against Fascism, Neofascism and other similar expressions, which took place on Tuesday at the La Carlota Convention Center, Caracas.
Pineda thanked the Venezuelan government “for inviting us to discuss such a serious issue. If we don’t put an end to fascism, we will never end the climate emergency.”
“The biggest problem is that there are 17 countries whose governments are plagued by fascism. President Sánchez, for example, was the first to recognize Guaidó and put pressure on other governments to recognize him. And now he gives asylum to Edmundo González. There we have fascism,” he said.
For Pineda, the European Union has given up on governing for its people, and has refused to “block” the access routes to fascism that are social networks, he said.
For his part, Marcelo Koenig, a speaker from Argentina, analyzed the keys to fascism during his speech.
The lawyer and Secretary General of the Peronist Current pointed out that “fascism is an authoritarian phenomenon that claims to be a party of order,” he said.
He highlighted the strong resentment towards workers’ organisations, as well as his speeches against liberalism both in political and economic terms.
He pointed out that fascism proposes the vindication of politics over the economy, based on the extermination of the enemy, which, he specified, can be seen in the violent and street action of fascism in its political practice.
“Fascism is racist,” said Koenig, commenting that neo-fascism advocates market supremacy and economic liberalism, as well as anti-politics through hate speech; a destructive vision of the State; and the idea of racism, contempt and the destruction of the other.
He stressed that the Argentine people are going through difficult times, and regretted that one of the representatives of international neo-fascism is governing his country.
“We are being governed by a fascist current that was unfortunately chosen by the people. There are also certain surnames there that are ruining the lives of the people,” he commented.
He added that in Argentina people who go out to protest against the policies imposed by the Javier Milei government are repressed.
