Agencies;- The American singer and actress, Selena Gomez, revealed this Monday in an interview with the magazine Vanity Fairwho due to health problems cannot have children.
During the interview, several topics were discussed regarding the 35-year-old singer’s professional and personal life. The subject of family came up several times in the conversation, until Selena herself decided to reveal some information that she has “regretted for a long time.”
“Unfortunately, I cannot bear my own children. I have many medical problems that would put my life and the baby’s life at risk,” she said.
“It’s not necessarily the way I imagined it. I thought it would happen the way it happens to everyone,” she said of becoming a mother.
Despite the emotional blow, Gomez is seriously considering adoption or surrogacy and says that, although it would be a little different, she is excited to experience being a mother.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’s going to be mine. It’s going to be my baby,” she added.
Your medical condition
In 2013, Selena was diagnosed with lupus, a disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack healthy tissue, affecting organs and causing inflammation. Later in 2017, she revealed through an Instagram post* that she had undergone a kidney transplant, donated by her close friend and actress, Francia Raísa.
According to the Lupus Foundation of America, a pregnant woman with the disease may experience complications such as preeclampsia, growth problems in the baby, premature birth or even miscarriage.
