The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, met this Sunday with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabito exchange about development issues, economic ties and possible agreements commercial between the United Arab Emirates and Uruguay.
One day before Uruguay Day is celebrated at the Dubai Expo, the president prepares to participate in the meeting and, meanwhile, exchanges on the bilateral relations of the country and various global issues related to integrationreported the Emirati news agency WAM.
In that sense, Lacalle Pou spoke with Al Nahyan on the importance of the instance for both nations, as well as his interest in promoting a global dialogue and reaching agreements with the Middle East.
The president, who traveled to Dubai this Friday, also spoke about the importance for the country of introducing its culture and vision of development. During his stay, he is accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Francisco Bustillo, the Minister of Economy, Azucena Arbeleche, the Minister of Industry, Mining and Energy, Omar Paganini, the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, and the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos. .
Lacalle Pou is expected to participate in official meetings with Emirati authorities until next Tuesday. Bustillo pointed out that the objective of the mission is “to bring the country closer economically” with the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier in the week, the government had already worked on establishing ties with another country in the region: Saudi Arabia. Last Monday, six authorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a presidential adviser shared a lunch with five representatives of the Kingdom of Arabia.
