Managua. Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo announced Monday in Managua that 1,600 common prisoners with final sentences will be released so they can live in family homes.
The 1,600 prisoners, 1,491 men and 109 women, will receive the legal benefit of release under the family cohabitation regime during an event to be held at the headquarters of the National Penitentiary System, near Managua, the largest prison in Nicaragua, known as ‘La Modelo’, as well as in seven other prisons, Murillo said through official media.
“It is planned that on Thursday the 12th (of September), in celebration of the National Holidays, the 1,600 people will receive the legal benefit of family coexistence,” Murillo said.
He stressed that “all these people are receiving a new opportunity to live righteously and to know how to appreciate this other moment in their lives together with their families, in their homes, and continue walking with a conscience of humanity.”
