Santo Domingo.- The Supérate Gastronomic Development Center (CSGS) began the course “Administrative and commercial management in food businesses” at the beginning of September, with the collaboration of the expert in Tourism and Gastronomy, José María Vallejo, who currently works as a professor at the School of Tourism and Gastronomy of Toledo, Spain.
Elila Valdez, director of CSGS, reported that 50 people will be trained in the first stage of the project and the course will last nine weeks.
“It is an innovative program that seeks to strengthen the capabilities of professionals in the field of gastronomy. The course is designed to provide participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills that will allow them to stand out in the gastronomic industry, both locally and internationally,” said Valdez.
During the first stage of the project, 50 people will be trained using a hybrid modality (in-person and virtual). In the in-person part, chef Martín Omar, who has been the link for the development of the project, will be supporting the students.
Among the topics to be covered in the course Administrative and commercial management in food businesses are: Market research strategy for gastronomic entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic, Marketing and promotion, quality management, design of gastronomic offerings, customer experience and how to open a food business, among others.
Valdez highlighted that the alliance between Supérate and the School of Tourism and Gastronomy of Toledo, Spain is part of the commitment of the government institution of social protection to continue promoting the growth and development of Dominican gastronomy, providing opportunities that improve the quality of life of micro, small and medium-sized merchants in the gastronomic area, as well as strengthening the tourism sector.
