Maduro congratulates his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune on his re-election

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated this Sunday his counterpart from the Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, after being re-elected in the presidential elections held this Saturday in this nation.

The message was posted by the head of state through his official account on the social network Telegram, where he said: “A worthy victory and a total commitment to the multipolar world, which the President of the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, obtained on September 7th by the majority of his people. Please accept my embrace and fraternal congratulations.”

The national leader also highlighted the brotherly relations that exist between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Algeria. “The brother people and the Government of Algeria count on me and Venezuela to continue moving towards a more humane and just world, without empires. There are more of us free peoples!”

The head of Algeria’s Independent National Electoral Authority, Mohamed Sharafi, announced on Sunday the provisional results of the pre-presidential elections held the day before, in which the current president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was re-elected for a new term.

During a press conference, Sharafi said that Tebboune obtained 5,329,253 votes, 94.65 percent of the valid votes cast in ballot boxes, according to the website of Telesur.

Next in line were Abdelaali Hassani (Peace Society Movement, 3.17 percent) and Youcef Aouchiche (Socialist Forces Front, FFS) with 2.16 percent.

According to the Independent National Electoral Authority, the three candidates obtained 5,630,196 votes between them, adding up the votes cast inside and outside the North African country.
