Morena expels mayor of Chilpancingo for meeting with criminal leader

“Meeting with an alleged criminal leader violates the principles and guidelines of the party and undermines the social peace and well-being of the population that governs under the guidelines of our movement,” states resolution CNHJ-Gro-145/2023 of the party’s Commission.

The complaint filed on August 25, 2023 against the mayor of Chilpancingo includes the video of the meeting between the mayor of Chilpancingo and Ortega Jiménez.

“Los Ardillos”, a group that was part of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, maintain control of the central area of ​​Guerrero, in municipalities such as Chilpancingo, Chilapa, Quechultenango and José Joaquín Herrera.

Considered one of the most powerful criminal groups in the state, it has been operating for two decades and is accused of crimes such as forced disappearance, kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking, especially related to poppy and its derivatives, such as opium and its by-product, heroin.

Norma Otilia Hernández was ruled out by Morena to seek reelection in the government of Chilpancingo this 2024, she was also left out to seek a space in the Senate.
