The Provincial Municipality of Sullana requested the Central Government to immediately declare a state of emergency in the province of Sullana, due to the murder of the two engineers and the Civil Engineering student, as well as other events caused by criminal organizations dedicated to extortion and contract killings.
“In light of this extremely serious situation, we demand that the Central Government urgently and immediately declare a State of Emergency in the province of Sullana. This measure must be supported by a real and effective strategy, which has adequate logistics, trained personnel and the necessary financing, to guarantee efficient work by the National Police, with the support of the Armed Forces,” says the municipality of Sullana.
At the same time, he points out that the fight against citizen insecurity also requires the active participation of citizens, through neighborhood organizations, so as not to be complicit in crime. We demand that the PNP Command implement a comprehensive strategic plan and we urge prosecutors and judges to act firmly and appropriately, punishing those responsible for these atrocious crimes.
Likewise, “we call for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to assume its true role of leadership and coordinating entity with the institutions responsible for ensuring citizen security,” states a statement signed by the mayor of Sullana, Marlem Mogollón Meca.
