The celebration of Valentine’s Day, originally linked to Valentine’s Day, was celebrated in Colombia on February 14, as in many other countries. However, in 1969, the decision was made to move this holiday to the third Saturday in September. This commercial strategy was implemented to better align the celebration with the economic capacity of Colombians.

One of the main reasons for this change was that February, being a month with a lot of spending, left people with fewer resources to buy details and gifts typical of the holiday. By moving the holiday to September, the aim was to alleviate spending during a period when consumers had more money available.
