José M. Murià: Jalisco and El Peje

Jose M. Muria

TO

the jaliscienses This end of the six-year term is taking us a long time, during which, according to the governor who is about to leave –Thank God!– he was going to refound the state of Jalisco.

We never really knew what it meant. refoundbut they were full of the word. Now his enemies claim that, in reality, what he intended was to re-establish it and that he almost succeeded.

Indeed, the record that remains is that it has been one of the worst governments ever, and boy, in this sense, especially with two of the three PAN six-year terms that turned out to be truly infamous, they really set the bar for incompetence very high.

The middle classes, and not to mention the upper classes, do nothing but grumble and denigrate the 4T. Newspapers and television and radio announcers do not stop criticizing the regime. Evidently there is no allusion to the previous governments that we suffered or analysis of the one we still suffer in Jalisco.

Among other things, to honor the name of Motion Citizen, they have achieved an almost total paralysis of city traffic. In the midst of the great growth of the population, they have only managed to reduce the spaces for circulation by creating a kilometer of lanes supposedly for bicycles, through which every Bishop’s Commute passes. There are quite a few citizens who have seen their travel times double during this six-year term, because the increase in automobiles has corresponded to a reduction in spaces for circulation.

We also have to congratulate ourselves because this state government is the first in Mexico to organize a demonstration by its cronies against the annual book fair, in order to prevent access to attendees.

In this sense, they finally tried to build a railway or tram line or whatever you want to call it, right towards the neighbouring municipality, where they have many vested urban interests.

Last week, the famous El Zapotillo dam was finally inaugurated, which will calm the worries of the people of Guadalajara over the lack of water for several years and will relieve the pressure that the greater metropolitan area of the Atemajac Valley exerts on Lake Chapala. It is clear that the Jalisco Executive was there taking credit, without remembering that it had embraced the cause of flooding the Temacapulín Valley and drowning three towns, one of which is almost half a millennium old and has a cemetery of a church of such antiquity.

That’s what the last PAN government wanted, the one of the PRI lackey of Peña Nieto and Alfaro himself, but they couldn’t against the defense of the natural and quite a few people from Jalisco who support them.

With the current federal government, the necessary amendments were made to build the dam and also leave the three towns alive, whose inhabitants applauded López Obrador with enthusiasm and, of course, booed him. Father and my very lord to the governor, reminding him, among other things, of his evil intentions of the past…

Not in vain did Movimiento Ciudadano lose control of the Jalisco Congress, its representation in the federal government and in the Senate. It only won in the metropolitan area, where it is said that there were so many irregularities that they have called into question the legality of its victory.
