The president of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), Roberto De la Tore, reported that between 2021 and 2023, corruption has generated economic losses to the country that exceed 72 billion soles.
He added that 24 billion soles have been lost this year alone, a figure that has been disclosed by the Comptroller General of the Republic.
He added that the money could have financed the construction of 50 hospitals, 1,600 schools and created more than a million jobs.

“A country perceived as corrupt significantly reduces the inflow of foreign capital and increases risks for investors”he indicated.
He also said that the diversion of state money to corrupt practices has its worst impact on the most vulnerable population. “It limits investment in infrastructure, health, education and other sectors essential for development,” warned De la Tore.
These comments were made at the opening of the second edition of the training program “Seedbed for future public officials and servants”, promoted by the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission of the Lima Chamber of Commerce.
In this regard, he said that the initiative seeks to awaken young people’s interest in working in the state apparatus to improve the standards of service to citizens.
