National Assembly deputies will present proposals to the world to confront fascism

National Assembly (AN) deputy Tania Díaz reported that the Venezuelan Parliament is organizing a series of seminars aimed at collecting anti-fascist proposals to take them to different world scenarios.

This was mentioned on Friday during the national seminar “Fascism as a political reality in Venezuela” that took place in the Plenary Hall of Parque Central, in Caracas, according to a press release from Parliament.

Díaz explained that this activity is part of the preparations for the organization of the National Antifascist Front and the creation of the Committee of Victims of Fascism.

Another objective of the national meeting is to unify the proposals to confront fascism and present them to the world.

The people stopped fascism

Diaz explained that fascist expressions and actions were observed after the elections of July 28. He pointed out that the brave and peaceful people with conscience, with the flags of love and the firmness of revolutionary morality, stopped fascism once again.

The event was also attended by the director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies “Pedro Gual”, Pedro Sassone, who analyzed the reality and the ongoing coup d’état. He offered his vision of fascism as a political practice of the Venezuelan right.

Sassone suggested that the academy should go out to meet the people, to engage in dialogue on concepts. The academy, he added, helps in social, economic and political transformation.

He pointed out that, when one is in the eye of the storm, the formula must be the meeting of the community to defeat fascism, since this is worthless in the face of reflection and collective consciousness.

Fascism seeks hatred and violence

Professor Pedro Rodríguez also spoke, explaining that fascism is a political doctrine that has hatred and violence as its cornerstone.

He commented that this form of politics has a violent reaction against democratic principles, denial of pluralism and social protection.

This ideology, he said, has a neoliberal sense of the economy, and he explained that one of its bases is aporophobia, “which is hatred towards the popular sectors, the humble people, the poor,” he stressed.

He asserted that fascism seeks to replace knowledge with an irrational exaltation of violence and hatred. “The typical cry of fascism is ‘long live death, down with intelligence’,”

In addition to members of the National Assembly, the event was attended by academics, intellectuals, spokespersons for social and political organizations, as well as community leaders.
