In the minutes of commitments with cargo transporters, The Government established an increase in the cost of a gallon of diesel of $800, which will be divided into two increases of $400 that will be applied during the remainder of the year..
The agreement establishes that the first $400 will come into effect once Resolution 40350 of August 29, 2024 is modified and the remaining $400 will be implemented on December 1.

With this measure, the initial increase of $1.904 in the value of the gallon is suspended until a discussion on the structural issues of the sector takes place..
In this regard, the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, explained in an interview on Mañanas Blu what changes were made with the agreement.
“We are making structural adjustments, but I want to point out: we will have three policies regarding diesel. The first, the decree for large consumers is in force, meaning that those who consume more than 20,000 gallons per month and buy directly from distributors; they do not go to service stations, they already have the full rate. The second group, which we have agreed upon here, is for all diesel consumers who go to service stations and it will be phased in gradually. This includes private vehicles.”Bonilla told the radio station.
(Also: ‘We have resolved it faster than they thought,’ says Petro on the agreement that ended the strike).
He explained that it will be implemented “a third action” for individuals, which will be ready in two months and is that their subsidies will be completely eliminated and they will be “same as gasoline ones”This means that the possibility of charging the price to those who own private trucks that use diesel is being studied.
Bonilla acknowledged that the challenges of creating a differential rate must be studied and that the possibility of using technology is being evaluated, such as the use of chips, to implement these types of measures.
