SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The family Dariana Hoyos Correa, a resident of Cojímar, Havana, asked for help to locate the 13-year-old girl, who has been missing since Wednesday.
According to information provided by a close friend of Dariana, CubaNetwas last seen in Cojímar and was wearing a pitusa, a sweater and Nike tennis shoes. She also carried a backpack with clothes.
On social media, an Internet user close to the family, however, stated that the last information they knew about her was that was by the Regla municipality.
According to Facebook user Arlet Oni Yemaya, the young woman’s mother, named Carmen, traveled to Cuba on Friday to begin the search for her daughter.
“Dariana is a 13-year-old girl, please, we are desperate to find her, we all know the situation and the violence that exists in Cuba right now,” she added, desperate. Among the contact numbers, they indicated the number 53852766, of her aunt Dulce.
Given the alarming increase in disappearances and the growing feeling of insecurity on the Island, the YoSíTeCreo group Cuba spread a series of guidelines for activating alerts for disappearances.
Recommendations include responding with as much information as possible from the files, obtained through contact with the family; avoiding including details about valuable objects such as phones, laptops, jewelry or money that the family has. missing person may carry; publish additional data only if it contributes to the search, otherwise it could endanger the missing person or re-victimize him or her.
It is also emphasized that any individual can activate citizen alerts for disappearances of girls, boys, adolescents and women, using the hashtags #AlertaMayde and #AlertaYeniset respectively.
The Cuban state does not implement any mechanism to make cases of missing persons visible, not even if they are minors, such as the Amber alert used in the United States.
For this reason, the independent platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba and civil society on the Island created two citizen alerts: Yeniset Alert for disappearances of women and Mayde Alert for missing children.
To report such cases, it is recommended that relatives fill out the missing persons alert form, which makes the search and pressure on authorities more effective.
The files must contain the full name, alias, if a report has been made to the PNR, registration number/date, physical description: hair color, eye color, height; age, identifiable marks: moles, tattoos, scars, chronic illnesses, medication, clothing worn the last time seen, place and day last seen, place of residence, telephone numbers or other contact information, other information considered important for the search.
