Venezuela will be the world epicenter of the fight against fascism

The first vice president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Pedro Infante, reported that Venezuela will be the world epicenter of the debate and the fight against fascism, for peace and humanity, on September 10 and 11.

According to a Press release From the Legislative Branch, Infante explained that Parliament was the venue for the “Preparatory Meeting for the organization of the National Anti-Fascist Front and the creation of the Committee of Victims of Fascism,” which was attended by deputies, academics, intellectuals, community leaders, as well as representatives of social and political organizations.

This meeting was coordinated by the second vice president of the National Assembly, América Pérez; the deputy Tania Díaz, the vice minister for Latin America, Rander Peña; the director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies “Pedro Gual”, Pedro Sassone; and the vice president of Missions and Major Missions, Erika Farías.

He also commented that the purpose of the great Antifascist Front is to be an instance to combat hatred and violence as mechanisms of political action, assuming with responsibility the orientations of the head of State, Nicolas Maduro.

Infante added that a Committee of Victims of Fascism will be created, allowing the registration of those who have suffered attacks in their communities on July 28, 29 and 30, in the context of the presidential elections.

During the preparatory phase, several proposals were discussed, including the creation of a research study center on fascism, the holding of diploma courses, workshops and discussions on fascism, as well as the formation of a large movement to cultivate peace, values ​​and respect for human rights.

A national seminar is scheduled for this Friday to “conceptualize fascism, cyberfascism and similar expressions,” as well as to learn about the experiences of the population and the state policies aimed at protecting the people from fascism.

Infante also reported that a cultural activity is scheduled for Saturday that includes the creation of murals alluding to the fight against fascism; while on Monday there will be a meeting to systematize the proposals that will be presented at the World Congress against Fascism, with the presence of more than 400 delegates from all over Venezuela.

Testimonies of the victims

The meeting was attended by victims of fascism, some of whom shared their experiences.

The worker at the Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI) El Quemaito, in Guatire, said that she was shot on July 29 when she went out to defend the institution.

“We felt helpless and in pain; that had never happened before at the CDI. Thanks to God and the conscience of a brave people, we came out ahead together with our president Nicolás Maduro,” he said.

In turn, Nirida Rodríguez, a worker at the Catia La Mar Community Market in La Guaira state, thanked the national government “for all the help provided in the face of the fascist attack.”

For her part, Ligia Olivares, a teacher at a sports complex, said that the fascists wanted to take away their right to play sports and to a better quality of life.
