CDMX: Purple Alert activated in Cuajimalpa due to rain

According to the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, The rainfall, expected for the night of September 5 and early morning of September 6, could exceed 70 millimeters or liters per square meter.

The agency recommended that residents of Cuajimalpa and high-risk areas evacuate, especially children, the elderly and the disabled, to avoid serious incidents.

Associated dangers include:

Heavy rains causing water currents or significant flooding in streets and avenues, falling trees, branches, tarpaulins and fragile metal structures in some homes.

This Thursday, Civil Protection also issued a Yellow Alert for the municipalities of Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras and Tlalpan due to medium to heavy rains, as well as an Orange Alert for Álvaro Obregón and Miguel Hidalgo due to heavy rains with the risk of significant flooding.
