Alberto Fujimori He was seen at a clinic in Miraflores accompanied by his children Kenji and Keiko Fujimori, as well as other close friends. The former president had finished radiotherapy for the tongue cancer he suffers from and the doctors would be evaluating the results. In addition, he dared to answer questions about whether he will run in the next general elections in 2026.

In the images he can be seen in a wheelchair, leaving the medical centre, where he confirmed having had a CT scan.

When asked about a possible run for President of the Republic in 2026, the patriarch of the Fujimoris responded briefly: “Let’s see.”

As is known, the last time he was seen publicly was in a video in which he signed his registration to the Fuerza Popular party on June 15.

CAN ALBERTO FUJIMORI RUN FOR PRESIDENCY?

Constitutional lawyer Aníbal Quiroga analyzed Alberto Fujimori’s recent affiliation with his daughter Keiko’s political party Fuerza Popular. This fact has sparked all kinds of reactions, mainly regarding a possible new candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic by the former dictator.

“No (he can apply) because the pardon only relieves the completion of the sentence, but he is still a convicted person and his sentence has not ended,” explained Anibal Quiroga to the Voice of 21, on the channel Peru21TV.

“It is exactly the same legal situation that a person who is in jail or prison would have, except that due to the presidential pardon, he does not have to serve time and can stay at home. But he is still a convicted person, he continues to have a criminal record, and he is obliged to pay civil compensation.”
