Nelvis Verenzuela, sister of Súmate coordinator Nélida Sánchez, denounced on social media that the activist has not had access to a private defense attorney and has not been able to have contact with her family since August 29.
Verenzuela stressed that Sánchez and her mother were intercepted by two vehicles with Sebin officials on August 26 when they were heading to a medical check-up at the Victorino Santaella hospital in Los Teques. There, they were taken to the headquarters of that security body in the aforementioned city.
She said that the mother of the Súmate coordinator had access to her from August 26 to 28, where she brought her food and belongings, since she was being interviewed. A day later, the agents told her that she was transferred to the Helicoide in Caracas.
On the 29th, he said, they were notified of the five crimes that Sánchez was charged with: terrorism, criminal association, treason, conspiracy and inciting hatred.

She said that her parents are elderly with critical health conditions. In the case of the father, he is 93 years old, suffers from senile dementia and other pathologies related to age, while the mother has heart problems that need regular care.

Relatives of Nélida Sánchez, coordinator of the Súmate Civil Association, reported on Sunday, August 1 that she has been held for seven days at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) located in El Helicoide.
Through the social network X, Súmate indicated that they hope to find out the crimes Sánchez is accused of and allow him to contact his private lawyers.
Sánchez was arrested by the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) on Monday, August 26, and initially transferred to El Helicoide prison in Caracas.
In a statement released on August 29, the organization called for her immediate release and warned that the defender suffers from several chronic illnesses, including a heart condition, which causes chronic circulatory problems, in addition to suffering from fibromyalgia and asthma.
“We ask that they provide and ensure the required daily medical care and treatment, in order to guarantee their human and constitutional right to life,” Súmate demanded.
