La Oroya: A wild monkey was seized from a passenger on an interprovincial bus

Through an operation in La Oroya, the National Police seized a monkey of approximately 27 cm, with beige and white fur from the passenger Xiomy de los Milagros (29) who was traveling from Pucallpa to Lima aboard the interprovincial bus.

The woman was traveling on the JL Internacional bus from Pucallpa to Lima and had the monkey in her possession, covered with a blanket. When she was asked for the legal ownership documents and authorization for its transfer, she could not prove it and was transferred to the La Oroya police station.

The case was referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Environmental Prosecutor in Huancayo for the relevant investigations. Xiomy de los Milagros will be investigated for alleged involvement in environmental crimes against natural resources and depredation of wild flora and fauna.
