Senator Antonio Marte condemned the migration of Haitians circulating in the country, arguing that this acts against national independence: “One part of us is fighting for the sovereignty of the country and the other part is fighting for the country to go to hell,” Marte said.
The legislator listed that, out of 100 women giving birth in hospitals, 70 come from the neighboring country. “I sometimes ask myself, how do they get there? How do they get in? But they get there, give birth, and stay here, and the children are left here,” said the senator.
In this regard, he said that Dominicans are marrying Haitians to legalize their children, and with the phrase: “What is happening is more serious,” he maintained that he has proof that “many Dominicans are doing that.”

Marte assured that he has reported the human displacement by Haitians to this part of the island and that “here you only have to go to the border to see how many Haitians enter daily (…) I do not know how they enter,” he said.
