The president recalled that during this six-year term, Mexico managed to displace China and Canada and became the main commercial partner of the United States, so he ruled out the risk of slowing down investments.
“Do you think that the opinion of one person, of one group of people, is going to stop the development, the growth, the need to strengthen North America as a commercial economic power?” he asked.
He explained that, while there were movements in economic markets worldwide, the peso was the least affected currency in the world.
“We have been in office for 50 years, 50 years without seeing a devaluation,” he added.
The president insisted that it is in everyone’s interest to ensure that there is no corruption in the judiciary, one of the aims of the judicial reform initiative.
“It is in everyone’s interest that there is no corruption. Corruption is not a pandemic, it is a plague. Corruption is what prevents the progress of nations and, of course, the ability to live with justice and peace, so how can we give in on that?” he commented.
