In the distant years, social democracy (SD) competed with the socialist project through governments that gave benefits to the working class and, in general, to the dominated social segments, with the purpose of reducing the risk that these sectors would be seduced by the USSR and follow its project. At the beginning of the 1990s, this first project of humanity that sought to transcend capitalism, its ineffable exploitation and its absurd fetishes, finally fell apart. It turned out that it was not the way, or the time, or the place, or all of them at once, and such a costly project, especially in human lives, ended in disaster. We still need a critical examination of the life and death of the USSR, which will reach a real consensus and serve as a beacon to visualize a second attempt, in terms of the subject, the ways, the places, the project.
