SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The Venezuelan ruler, Nicolas Madurodecreed this Monday that the next Christmas will begin in October, in the midst of a political crisis unleashed on July 28 when the regime authorities declared him the winner of the elections, despite accusations of fraud from opposition leaders and the international community.

“It’s September and it already smells like Christmas, it smells like Christmas and that’s why this year, in homage to you, in gratitude to you, I’m going to decree the advancement of Christmas to October 1st. For everyone: Christmas has arrived with peace, happiness and security,” said the president during the broadcast of his TV show.

Maduro’s unusual statement came hours after the Prosecutors ordered to arrest opposition leader Edmundo González, which could lead one to think that the early Christmas is a distraction strategy from a fact that worsens the political crisis in the country.

The Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant on Monday against Edmundo González Urrutia, for not having responded to three summons to testify about the website web where the opposition published results broken down from the elections held on July 28.

According to the provision, signed by prosecutor Luis Ernesto Duéñez, González is being accused of “usurpation of functions“crimes of forging public documents, instigation to disobedience of laws, criminal association, sabotage to damage systems and conspiracy.

The website resultsconVzla.com is being investigated to determine who is responsible for its creation, as it would be “usurping” functions of the CNE. Edmundo González has denied the accusations against him.

The Chavistas justify the arrest warrant with the alleged risk of the opposition leader fleeing, as well as obstructing the case.

A recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela, controlled by magistrates close to Chavez, ratified the disputed victory of Nicolás Maduro in the elections of July 28 and said that the voting records The online reports showing he lost by a landslide were false.

According to the Chavista regime, Maduro obtained 51.95% of the votes in the elections, while Edmundo García only obtained 43.18%.

The opposition, which has managed to gather 81% of the voting records, currently public in your website for review by citizens and independent bodies, states that García far surpassed Maduro by almost 40% of the votes. This result has been recognized by countries such as Argentina, the United States and Peru, among others.
