GORE Ica will improve health and education services with digital transformation

The Regional Government of Ica announced that it will carry out the digital transformation of the main basic services it provideswith the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens, as well as improving the competitiveness of the region.

Therefore, through the mechanism of Works for Taxesthe authority signed an agreement with the consortium formed by the companies Inversiones para el Comercio Exterior and Minsait, an Indra company, for the implementation of the Icatec project.

According to the regional governor of Ica, Jorge Hurtado, in a first stage, the project contemplates providing services for medical appointment reservations, school registration, driver’s licenses, as well as a platform for online teacher recruitment.

He also said that the project will provide access to geographic and statistical information for the development of regional action plans.

“This digital transformation project will allow us to connect citizens through an application to medical appointments, obtaining driving licenses, and real-time education, and that will allow for zero corruption in the regional government,” said Hurtado.

“This is an innovative project that we believe will be of interest to other regional governments in order to improve not only the quality of life of citizens by reducing the time required for procedures, but, above all, the economic potential of the regions,” said Denisse Miralles, Director of Decentralized Investments at Proinversión.

Impact

Gonzalo Tassano, manager of Indra Peru, a global digital transformation firm, said that Icatec is a 12-month project that is expected to begin in the second half of October this year.

Among the milestones to be achieved, it is expected that, in the first six months, it will allow for providing attention at the appointment booking posts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Tassano indicated that with digitalization, response times for health care will be reduced.

The executive added that the digital registration would also be ready in March of next year.

Tassano estimated that this digital transformation will allow the Ica region to reach more than 250 thousand monthly medical appointments in primary care centers, which will help relieve emergency situations in hospitals.

In addition, achieving more than 100 thousand school enrollments and the quality review of more than 6 thousand resumes.

The Icatec project involves an investment of S/200 million by the private consortium, using the works-for-taxes modality.

Indra has a portfolio of almost S/2,000 million in investments in Works for Taxes in different regions with digital transformation projects that bring citizens closer to the State and vice versa.
