The Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chavarry, pointed out that the proposal to give firearms to the Serenazgo is something that must be evaluated, since it is a delicate proposal. He indicated that the use of weapons requires special training.
“[La propuesta de armar al Serenazgo] It is something that has to be evaluated. The use of weapons is something delicate because you have to go through tests, that is under evaluation, “ he said last Saturday from Trujillo.
Along these lines, he announced that this week the new Serenazgo law will be drawn up. He explained that this new norm has been designed with the participation of the members of this group and the Police.

“About the serenazgo law, arriving in Lima I take it out, I already have the regulations, for that I have summoned the serene themselves, the policemen, that law will work out because we are counting on their participation. The regulation of the law should be coming out next week”he added.
It should be noted that the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, asked the regional governors this week to reinforce the work of the Serenazgo personnel and also considered that prior to preparation, these agents must carry weapons.
“A person without weapons cannot face a criminal who is armed. So, after a preparation and selection, the members of the Serenazgo must also be armeds,” said the chief of staff.
