The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, expressed Venezuela’s celebration of the release of Chilean communist leader Daniel Jadue, highlighting that the proceedings against him did not discredit his “absolute integrity and honesty.”
This was stated on Monday by the head of Venezuelan diplomacy on his Telegram channel, expressing “our firm solidarity with Jadue, leader of the Communist Party of Chile, committed to the people who has promoted important social reforms as mayor of Recoleta.”
Further early this daythe Third Guarantee Court of Santiago de Chile revoked the preventive detention against the former mayor and former presidential candidate, Daniel Jadue, a maximum precautionary measure considered unfair and disproportionate.
The imposition of preventive detention on June 3 prevented Jadue from continuing to lead the Recoleta municipality, where he was serving his third term.
During his administration, he implemented several programs for social benefit in that commune, including the Pharmacy, the Optician’s and the Popular Bookstore, the Rehabilitation Center, the Library Network and the Open University.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of alleged crimes of bribery, tax fraud and fraud in the negotiations between the Chilean Association of Municipalities and Popular Pharmacies.
