2025 budget authorizes 57.8 thousand new jobs in the federal government

The 2025 Budget bill authorizes the hiring of 57,814 people for the public sector next year. Of this total, 53,599 correspond to the Executive Branch, of which 46,882 will make up the faculty pool for federal universities and technical institutes. In relation to the other Powers, the Budget foresees the hiring of 3,524 people in the Judiciary, 416 in the Federal Legislature, 232 in the Federal Public Ministry and in the National Council of the Public Ministry and 43 in the Public Defender’s Office of the Union, treated as a separate Power in the budget headings.

Sent to Congress last Friday (30), the 2025 Budget proposal reserves R$2 billion for new public examinations. Despite the authorizations, the Secretary of the Federal Budget of the Ministry of Planning and Budget, Clayton Luiz Montes, clarified that the public examinations and positions to be offered next year have not been defined.

We do not currently have the opening of which competitions, or for whom, but there is a budget allocation reserved for such competitions. The Ministry of Management and Innovation distributed a note, which states that there is a reserve of around R$ 2 billion for the opening of new competitions”, declared Montes, in a press conference to detail the 2025 Budget project.

In August, the federal government held the first edition of the Unified National Exam (CNU), which offered 6,640 vacancies in 21 ministries, agencies and federal agencies. In total, 970,037 people took the exam out of a total of 2,114,145 applicants, with an abstention rate of 54.12%.

In a recent interview with the program Good morning, Minister.the Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, said that the government is studying the possibility of carrying out a second edition of CNU in 2025. According to her, the decision depends on the results of the first edition of the CNU and the budget forecast for the tests.
