SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The United States Embassy in Havana announced on Monday, September 2, a new way to inform Cuban citizens about the procedures and services of diplomatic representation on the Island.
This is a channel of WhatsApp that the embassy has made available to the Caribbean public to stay up to date.

The process, they say, is simple: it consists of scanning the QR code of “Migración USA” and following the immigration news through the WhatsApp application.
“It is a source verified by the United States Government to provide information on immigration processes,” the consular website stated when promoting this option.
Last month, the Embassy ofadvertisement an expansion in its consular services, specifically in the issuance of visas, which began on August 19. According to the official statement, This expansion will allow a greater number of Cuban citizens to access interviews for nonimmigrant visas directly in the Cuban capital.
New visa categories available in Havana include Temporary Workers or Trainees; Exchange Visitors; Intra-Company Transferees; Workers with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement; Athletes, Artists, and Entertainers; Participants in International Cultural Exchange Programs; and Members of a Religious Denomination Performing Religious Work.
This wide range of options represents an opportunity for many Cubans seeking to enter the United States for work, cultural or religious reasons.
For all categories except Exchange Visitors, evidence of an approved petition (Form I-797 Notice of Action) from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is required.
Applicants for an Exchange Visitor visa must submit a Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status, known as Form DS-2019, issued by the sponsor of the exchange program.
Interviews will be scheduled only after the Embassy has received the duly approved Form I-797 or DS-2019. In addition, applicants must provide the required application, pay the applicable fees, and present a valid passport and a recent photo.
