“I have already made a statement on the matter. I have denied all the audio recordings and that is at the disposal of my lawyer. I have named my lawyer as a spokesperson and I am not going to comment on that issue because it is subject to a fiscal investigation. Supposedly the audio recordings are sealed and we are going to wait for the corresponding expert reports to be able to make a statement,” he said.
Santiváñez said that he has repeatedly denied that the voice appearing in the audios is his. In this regard, he questioned the use of his image in news on this subject.
“I’m going to take legal action against the media outlets that have linked my image to the audio recordings. Because it’s easy to say: ‘We suspect it doesn’t belong’. But they put my image up,” he said.
Cerrón’s escape
Cuarto Poder revealed this Sunday an audio in which Santiváñez allegedly assured that the president’s official vehicle Dina Boluartecalled “chest”, would be “the perfect hiding place” for the fugitive Vladimir Cerron could escape, since he could move throughout the national territory without being intervened by the National Police.
This audio would have been recorded on May 21, in a chifa in San Borja, by ‘Culebra’.
“Do you remember that the president’s coffin was on the beach? He was going to look for Cerrón on the beach. (…) He could even get to the border without the Peruvian National Police stopping him. It’s the perfect hiding place for someone who wants to evade justice,” added the voice that would be Santiváñez’s.
In February of this year, the president’s official vehicle was detected at kilometer 107 of the Panamericana Sur highway, in Asia, near the Mikonos condominium, where the police attempted to capture the fugitive owner of Peru Libre.
