A 16-year-old boy died after being struck by lightning while fishing in Playa Los Ángeles, La Guaira, according to reports.
The deceased is identified as Yoandris Alejandro Amaranto Rojas (16), who received the electric shock this Saturday. The impact was such that Yoandris fell into the sea from where he was rescued by a man who observed the natural phenomenon.
After being rescued, Yoandris was taken to a health center where he was admitted without vital signs.
They assume that the electric shock first made contact with a column of rebar where the boy was lying, a situation that impacted him immediately.
A friend of the deceased, who was also fishing, was burned, according to witnesses.
