The NGO Justice, Encounter and Forgiveness reported on the night of Saturday, August 31st A total of 76 adolescents who were arrested in the context of post-election protests in various parts of the country were released.
According to the report presented by the aforementioned NGO, eight adolescents left the detention center in Guárico; eight in Barinas and Lara; three in Bolívar, 13 in Táchira; five in Portuguesa, one in Yaracuy and 30 in Caracas.
While they welcomed the release of these people, they rejected the idea that they had been deprived of their freedom for expressing themselves and described it as “unacceptable” that minors had been detained during peaceful protests and, in this regard, demanded that the adolescents who remain detained be removed from the detention centres and that the rights established in the Lopnna be respected.
He Criminal Forum reported this Sunday that at least 86 teenagers have been released on bail, while 74 young men and 12 women have left the detention centers.
