Authorities identify victims of accident in Azua

Identifican varios de los muertos en accidente Azua

Some of the victims of the traffic accident that occurred early Sunday morning in the community of Bastida, in the municipality of Las Yayas, Azua, which claimed the lives of at least 11 people and left 38 others injured, have been identified.

According to data provided by the provincial authorities, among the victims is a member of the National Police identified as José René Guzmán Guzmán, who died from severe blunt head and facial trauma.

On the other hand, Génesis Arias Alcántara was identified, who died as a result of severe multiple blunt trauma; Deivy Ferrera Matos, who suffered severe head trauma; and Jhon Deuvy Geraldo, who died from internal bleeding caused by a valve-type trauma to the jaw.

The death of Eliun Guzmán Rodríguez was also recorded, who died from severe blunt head and facial trauma.

The bodies were removed with the help of their respective families.

It was also reported that four other people died in the different health centres to which they were transferred, but have not yet been identified.

The driver of the truck that caused the accident, nicknamed Angel, alias Patico, fled, but not his companion, Mr. Ysmailin Santana, who is currently detained by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
