Súmate denounced that coordinator Nélida Sánchez has been held in El Helicoide for seven days

Súmate reports that its coordinator Nélida Sánchez was brought to court

Nélida Sánchez, coordinator of Súmate, spent seven days this Sunday in the Sebin headquarters in El Helicoide. They insist on knowing the crimes for which she is accused and ask that she have access to her trusted lawyers.


Relatives of Nélida Sánchez, coordinator of the Súmate Civil Association, reported this Sunday, August 1, that she has been held for seven days at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) located in El Helicoide.

Through the social network XSúmate indicated that they hope to learn the crimes Sánchez is accused of and allow him to contact his private lawyers.

Súmate reported on the afternoon of Friday, August 30th that relatives of Nélida Sánchez, national coordinator of Citizen Electoral Training of that organization, were notified of the lawyer’s appearance in court.

“She was presented yesterday with the assistance of a public defender and without the presence of her lawyers. They are trying to contact the Public Defender’s Office to find out the charges and where she will be held,” Súmate posted on the social network X.

Sánchez was arrested by the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) on Monday, August 26, and initially transferred to El Helicoide prison in Caracas.

In a statement released on August 29, the organization called for her immediate release and warned that the defender suffers from several chronic illnesses, including a heart condition, which causes chronic circulatory problems, in addition to suffering from fibromyalgia and asthma.

“We ask that he be provided with and ensured the daily medical care and treatment required, in order to guarantee his human and constitutional right to life,” Súmate demanded.
