Accident in Azua: 32 injured people confined

Accidente en Azua: Confinan 32 personas lesionadas

Azua.- The number of people injured after being hit early Sunday morning by a truck loaded with avocados in the community of Bastidas has risen to 32in the municipal district of Villarpando, in Las Yayas, province Azua.

Preliminary reports confirm the death of six people, of whom three have been identified.

Most of the injured were transferred to San Juan and to the Taiwan Hospital in Azua.

The General Directorate of Security, Traffic and Land Transportation (Digesett) identified the victims as Police Sergeant José René Guzmán Guzmán, Elvin Guzmán Rosso, Génesis Arias Alcántara and a woman not yet identified, who died at the scene of the accident.

The preliminary report indicates that the group was run over while sharing a drink at the Gabi Super Fría liquor store, located on the aforementioned stretch of road. The truck responsible, a red Daihatsu brand with license plate L192615, allegedly lost control and caused the accident.

The truck driver, whose identity remains unknown, fled the scene.
