In the Gulf of Venezuela and Lake Maracaibo, more oil spills from PDVSA facilities are evident, denounced Professor Eduardo Klein
Professor Eduardo Klein of the Department of Environmental Studies at Simón Bolívar University (USB), reported on his social networks that oil leaks continue to occur from Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) facilities in the Gulf of Venezuela and Lake Maracaibo.
Klein indicated that on August 30 – the day of the most recent national blackout – a new leak was detected in the PDVSA underwater oil pipeline and indicated that there is another crude oil stain in the satellite images that he handles that has been recorded since the beginning of the aforementioned month, while he warned that it has already become customary for the Cardón refinery, in Falcón, to continue expelling hydrocarbons into the Gulf of Venezuela.

On July 31, according to the portal MundoURFalcón state authorities reported that the Cardón and Amuay refineries, along with areas surrounding the Paraguaná peninsula, were not affected during the power outage that occurred this Friday.
The power supply in the state was restored at 8 pm on Friday after more than 15 hours without electricity, which affected the activity of citizens and businesses.

On the other hand, Professor Klein warned that Lake Maracaibo is “bathed in oil” by reporting that since August 25 no less than eight crude oil leaks have been located on the eastern coast and center of the lake basin, calling on the Ministry of Ecosocialism and PDVSA to do something about it.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, August 31, it was announced that the Minister of Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, had indicated that a fifth surveillance and control system had been installed for the detection of environmental crimes and forest fires, which now covers 70% of the national territory.
“We are installing the fifth repeater system station in Cerro Arrojata, Cumaná (Sucre state), with the objective of guaranteeing immediate communication via VHF radios, from Caracas to all the states in the east of the country,” Lorca explained in a message published on Instagram.
