Edwin Guerrero, an automotive inspector, has reported the case of his son Samuel Guerrero, a 15-month-old baby who tragically died in April 2022. More information about the case was learned after the investigation of the Séptimo Día program.
According to Guerrero, the boy’s mother, Jenny Alexandra Higuera, a nursing assistant, was responsible for the boy’s death after a series of violent events and a desperate attempt to recover her relationship with him.
The case began to resonate when Guerrero and Higuera ended their relationship. After the separation, Higuera began to display erratic and violent behavior, including one episode in which he shaved the child’s head without consulting the family.
Edwin, who had decided to end the relationship because of the abuse, learned of the growing concern for his son’s safety when his mother suggested that the situation was dangerous.
Higuera, in an attempt to get Guerrero back, even resorted to witchcraft and began a process of custody and visitation regulation. However, instead of complying with the agreements, she decided to take the baby to Santa Marta, where six days later Edwin received the heartbreaking news that his son had been found dead on a beach.
Authorities in Santa Marta began a search for Higuera, who was eventually captured in Bogotá. The woman was charged with aggravated homicide, but did not accept the charges.
After two years, Jenny Alexandra Higuera was released due to expiration of terms, a decision that Edwin Guerrero denounces as a delay in the judicial process.
The baby’s father has expressed his anguish and frustration, saying the case has not received proper justice and his life has been devastated by the loss of his son.
Guerrero continues to demand justice and hopes that the case does not go unpunished, “She is a very manipulative and selfish woman, everything she did was to hurt me and my son. I only have the photos of him left, She knew that with what she did she was going to destroy me in life,” the victim’s father told Noticias Caracol.
