PNP General Manuel Farías, head of the Piura Police Region, said that, of the 335 police officers who graduated from the PNP Technical Professional Higher Education School of Piura, only 100 police officers will remain in Piura and will be distributed in the different provinces of the region.
The officer regretted that the majority of police officers who graduated have been assigned to other cities. “We regret that 235 police officers are already being placed at the disposal of Tumbes, Cajamarca and Lima, respectively, and we are left with one hundred and with the hundred we will see how we distribute them throughout the region,” said Farías.
Regarding the investigation into the deaths of the two medical students in Piura, Farías indicated that they have carried out tests on the mobile equipment. “These are two cases that are under investigation. All the tests and examinations have been carried out to determine conclusively, not only with what has been found at the crime scene, but also with the cell phones, because there are messages that have been sent to a person and we are investigating that,” he said.

Regarding the video where a non-commissioned officer was caught taking off his police jacket to intervene with one of the two motorcycles that resisted, he said that the Inspectorate is already investigating. “We have already learned about it through social networks, we have already started the administrative disciplinary process with the Inspectorate because we, as Police, should not have that behavior and that is already under investigation,” he commented.
Farías also referred to the detainee and investigated as the “cashier” of the criminal gang “Los Pulpos” and confirmed that extortions continue to come out of prisons.
“We have said it and we confirm it, extortions often come from prison and they use people who are outside and who have no criminal record. Now, we are acting as the Police.” he indicated.
Regarding the robbery of the “Albo” warehouse on the Panamericana, on the stretch from Sullana to Piura, where a large amount of money was stolen, Farías said that they are analyzing the images from the company’s cameras and testimonies. In addition, he hopes that if anyone has other clues, they will collaborate with the Police.
