President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this Friday (30) that Brazil is experiencing an “exceptional” moment with economic growth. During a trip to Paraíba, Lula defended his administration, stating that the country has once again opened new export markets and regained credibility. “This country deserves a chance. We are experiencing a good moment, the country is growing,” said the president.
“This is an exceptional moment for Brazil. We have regained our international credibility. 180 new markets have been opened to export Brazilian products in 18 months,” said the president when announcing, at the João Pessoa Convention Center, federal investments in the state aimed at new modalities of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (MCMV) program, the New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC) and investments of R$143.9 million for the expansion of the Paraíba Federal Institute (IFPB).
In the case of MCMV, the first contracts for rural and entity modalities are planned. Present at the ceremony, the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, announced that the contracting of another 584 housing units for the housing program is planned, and the selection of 234 units for the rural modality. He informed that the program will be reinforced by the Retrofit project, which will transform abandoned or unused properties into MCMV units.
“Instead of the property remaining idle, we will transform them into 50 MCMV properties to help the people of Paraíba,” said the minister.
The federal government also announced the revitalization of the INSS building in the historic center of the capital of Paraíba and announced the selection of new Pró-Moradia housing units to serve gypsy and indigenous communities and families in risk areas.
Regarding the New PAC, the announcements cover land regularization that will serve around 2,700 families in the Aratu community.
Earlier, President Lula inaugurated another stage of works on the transposition of the São Francisco Riverwhich will guarantee water sustainability for another 39 municipalities in the state, reaching around 680 thousand people.
This stage is considered the largest water project in Paraíba and the second largest in the Northeast, guaranteeing “quality of life, employment and income for rural areas”, according to Planalto.
