The superior judges of the Criminal Appeals Court of Puno sentenced Emerson Mena Condori (25) to 7 years of effective imprisonment, who committed the crime of negligent homicide.
On October 13, 2021, the now convicted man caused a traffic accident while driving his vehicle with license plate Z6F-066, causing the death of 3 people.
The accident occurred on the curve of the Huáscar neighborhood of the city of Puno where 2 of his friends died (Liliana Chambilla Aduviri (21) and Edy Álex Calderón (28)) who were occupants of the wrecked unit and, in addition, crushed a pedestrian who was a worker at the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), Dante Apaza Apaza (30).
The judges also ordered Mena Condori to pay civil compensation of 150 thousand soles to the legal heirs of Dante Apaza Apaza, and 100 thousand soles to the legal representatives of Lilian Chambilla Aduviri.
It is known that the first instance sentenced a person to a suspended sentence, however, the higher judges considered that the seriousness of the crime merited a higher and more effective sentence. Likewise, the magistrates ordered the arrest of Mena Condori so that he can serve the sentence.
