The mayor of the Bernal district, José Gilberto Ruiz Loro, was suspended by the councilors of the Bernal District Municipality for having received donations without authorization from the full council.
In an extraordinary session and with five votes in favor, the municipal authority José Gilberto Ruiz Loro was suspended for 30 days from his position as mayor of Bernal, in the province of Sechura for having received donations from the Transitional Board of the Community of Sechura, chaired by Mr. Miguel Henry Zavaleta Amaya, and from the company Miski Mayo, without prior approval and authorization from the councilors, as required by law.
The mayor allegedly violated Article 9, Section 20 of Law 27972, of the Municipal Internal Regulations and the rules established in Law 27444, the General Law of Administrative Procedures, by receiving a motorcycle from the Transitional Board of Sechura in his capacity as mayor.
In addition, the acquisition of 100 gallons of oil from the company Misky Mayo. Both donations should have been approved by the full council, however, this was not the case and it was the councilors themselves who requested the mayor’s suspension.

The request for vacancy was requested by councilors María Chunga Morales, Darwin Mendoza Gómez, Paula Mercedes Córdova Ruiz, Nelly Puescas Ramírez and Edinder Rumiche Chunga, who sent a document to the aforementioned mayor on August 7, where they request that he call an extraordinary session of the municipal council to discuss this request.
It should be noted that on the Facebook page, the Bernal commune reported that on February 6 the asset was received and awarded as a prize to the 2024 carnival queen.
It should be noted that the mayor who was elected in the last elections was Félix Ayala Cherre, who was sentenced and vacated. He is currently a fugitive from justice. In his place, Gilberto Ruiz Antón assumed the mayor’s office, however, he is now suspended for 30 days.
During the month of suspension of the municipal authority, the mayor’s office will be in charge of councilor María Chunga Morales.
For his part, the suspended mayor said in his final speech that he will appeal this decision before the National Elections Jury.
