Osiel Cárdenas Guillén, former leader of the Gulf Cartel, is released from prison in the US

Osiel Cárdenas, 57, was being held at the Terre Haute Penitentiary in Indiana, but this Friday, the records of the United States Bureau of Prisons show that the 57-year-old drug lord has an “Unknown” release date.

In 2009, the boss pleaded guilty to five charges of trafficking cocaine and marijuana, money laundering and threats against US security agents.

The drug lord’s fortune was estimated at nearly $300 million. As of February 2013, the United States had seized $26 million from him.
