With the help of two sniffer dogs, the police searched the premises until they found drugs hidden in roof beams and inside walls, places strategically chosen by criminals. In other parts of the community, the police found a rifle, a revolver and three ammunition magazines. No arrests were made.

Hidden drugs

The school identified today is the second in which the Military Police have found drugs hidden in Maré. Last Sunday (25), BAC officers found about a ton of drugs at the Maria Amélia Castro Belford Municipal School.

In 11 days of integrated work in support of the actions of the State Secretariat of Civil Police and the city of Rio to destroy a luxury condominium that was being built by drug trafficking, the Military Police seized around four tons of drugs in the Complexo da Maré.

This year, the Canine Action Battalion seized more than 10 tons of narcotics, mostly in the capital and metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.
