Following a request from CyberGaeco, the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPSP), the São Paulo courts requested the suspension of 19 profiles on the social network X, 7 on TikTok, 7 on Instagram and one on Telegram. The owners of the profiles were accused of fraud, as they pretended to be relatives of victims of the crash of flight 2283, which fell in Vinhedointerior of São Paulo, on August 9th.
According to the MPSP, the platforms, especially X and Tik Tok, resisted removing the content after being informed by the prosecutor’s office. The court ruling establishes a daily fine of R$100,000 if the content remains online. Since the accident other 59 scam profiles were identified by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, and taken offline. The criminals have not yet been identified.
The causes of the accident involving Flight 2283 remain unclear. CENIPA is planning a press conference on September 6 to update society on the investigation.
THE Brazil Agency looked for social media and awaits a response.
