The president of the Civic Committee for Santa Cruz, Fernando Larach, He described the incident as “armed robbery” results of the Population and Housing Census, presented this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). He assured that he will meet with the Governor’s Office, the Municipal Government and the Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno to then make decisions.

“Armed robbery. The inability demonstrated by the INE is evident. They themselves stated this in their projections. Where are the 400 thousand Bolivians that they themselves projected?“They are putting their fingers in our mouths. This situation is intolerable (…) we cannot allow ourselves to be defrauded in this way. The work carried out by the INE is disgraceful,” Larach said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

According to him, the Committee is “outlining the strategies to follow.” To this end, they are summoning the Municipal Government, the Departmental Government – which made known population measurements of the municipality and the department – and the public University “to carry out the necessary studies to find out what happened; to conduct an audit,” said Larach.

The civic leader highlighted: “This issue does not admit division, it is fundamental for the development of Bolivia and we cannot allow ourselves to let this issue go by. There must be organized and planned work. That is what we are going to work on to obtain technical and truthful information and refute these results.”
