Congress approves easy loans for families and companies in RS

With the project, official financial development agencies are exempted from observing legal impediments and restrictions on access to credit by those affected in Rio Grande do Sul municipalities in a situation of public calamity.

The proposal applies to contracts, renewals or renegotiations made directly or through financial agents.

Senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS), who presided over the Congress session, highlighted the importance of the measure for families and businesses affected in the state. The floods affected more than 2 million people in Rio Grande do Sul, with 600,000 having to abandon their homes and affecting 80% of the state’s economy.

“Rio Grande do Sul is suffering, it was one of the biggest climate tragedies in the country’s history. The National Congress and the federal government are playing, in our view, a fundamental role in helping with the reconstruction,” said the parliamentarian.

Interested parties will have to prove regularity with INSS and with installments of access to FGTS due before April 1, 2024.

With approval, the proposal now goes to the President of the Republic for sanction.
