The regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo decapitated 150 people this Thursday Non-Governmental Organizations more, among them the Association 26 February 1978 «Camilo Ortega Saavedra In Memoriam, Survivors of the Heroic Deed of the Sabogales”, for non-compliance, by not reporting the financial statements between the years 2019.2023 and expired board of directors since 2021.

To the association formed by a group of former Sandinista combatants from Masaya and which sought to honor the dictator’s younger brother Daniel Ortega It was granted legal status in March 2015, with a proposal presented by Sandinista deputy José Santos Figueroa.

According to its founding documents, the organization sought to develop social projects and services for former Sandinista combatants in Masaya, including the management of national and foreign scholarships.

Within the package that Ortega eliminated last Monday, there were at least 73 organizations belonging to former historical combatants, retired from the Nicaraguan Army, the National Police, the Patriotic Military Service and other branches of Sandinism.

Another NGO that was decapitated for the same reason was one named after the mother of dictator Daniel Ortega, Lidia Saavedra, which aimed to promote the release of “political prisoners” during the Somoza dictatorship.

They also ordered the liquidation of organizations of retired members of the extinct Nicaraguan resistance, that is, the anti-Sandinista organization that confronted Daniel Ortega with bullets in the 1980s. The NGOs linked to the Contras that were outlawed are: the Civil Association of the Disabled of the Nicaraguan Resistance and the Association of Victims and War Cripples of the Nicaraguan Resistance.

This elimination of associations linked to Sandinismo and its former enemies coincides with the state sweep ordered by Rosario Murillo within the institutions and municipalities of the entire country.

The Nicaraguan regime has closed more than 5,000 NGOs, most of them social and religious, as part of its attack on the country’s churches. In addition, Murillo linked Non-Governmental Organizations to the State of Nicaragua, turning them into parastatal bodies.

For the former Sandinista combatant Dora Maria Tellezthe dictatorship is going through a period of filtering from within Sandinismo to seek out and place in key positions those loyal to Murillo and anyone who questions his orders is eradicated.
