MIDES, INADEH and the Office of the First Lady consolidate alliance to provide tools and equipment to the CEFODEA educational center

The Minister of Social Development, Beatriz Carles, toured the Center for Training and Development of Adolescents (CEFODEA) together with Yajaira Estela Pitti, general director of the National Institute for Professional Training and Capacity Building for Human Development (INADEH) as part of a strategic alliance that will improve the academic offering that this center offers to young people at social risk.

During the tour, the condition of the technical workshops, their furniture, as well as their electronic equipment and the entire infrastructure were assessed, in order to develop an improvement plan.

The inspection, which included the participation of Cintya Díaz, director of the Office of the First Lady of the Republic, allowed for the signing of an agreement between these three institutions in which CEFODEA students will be the main beneficiaries.

The collaboration will allow INADEH, together with the Office of the First Lady, to provide the center with the tools, implements and equipment necessary for the workshops to provide the best experience for students.

This initiative will allow for the exchange of experiences, information and knowledge that will benefit the student population and allow graduates of technical high schools to obtain their certification in parallel, according to the modality.

The improvements will help increase enrollment at the center to allow more young people to take advantage of the academic offerings at this center.

“We have found a centre with many needs, with many discarded materials, but we are already doing what is necessary to carry out the first cleanings that will help this centre recover its spaces,” said the minister.

Díaz stressed that INADEH will be a key ally in making CEFODEA a useful space where young people can learn technical careers that will transform their lives.

This alliance is two-way, said Díaz. On the one hand, the National Government is committed to improving the services of this center and, on the other hand, the students must show interest and commitment to get the most out of it.

At the end of the tour, the authorities gave the students soccer cleats as part of the resocialization promoted by this center.

On behalf of the students, Félix Cuesta thanked them for the donation and advised his classmates to continue making efforts and to take advantage of the opportunities that are presenting themselves.

This is the second visit that Minister Carles has made to CEFODEA. During the first inspection, the corresponding processes were initiated that will allow the removal of all scrap vehicles and those in the process of being scrapped from the center’s yard, which totals more than 60 vehicles.

CEFODEA, located in the district of San Miguelito, provides services to 45 young people at social risk. The objective is to incorporate them into the school campus where they resume their studies in general basic education and learn a vocational career that will facilitate their insertion into the labor market and society as agents of change.

The centre offers workshops on mechanics, IT, construction, bodywork, cooking and protocol, welding, cabinetmaking and beauty.
