Panama and its queen of the three Paralympic Games

Excited to be part of the history of the Paralympic movement in Panama, para athlete Iveth Valdés sets her sights on becoming the first woman, born in our country, to compete in three Paralympic Games (RIO 2016, TOKYO 2020 and PARIS 2024).

The historic event will take place on the field of the Stade de France, venue for the Paris 2024 Para-athletics competition, where Iveth (F55) will be in action on August 30 in the discus throw, unified F56 category and then on September 3 in the javelin throw, also in the F56 unification.

“Each game has its own emotions, I never thought I would be in one and now having reached three is wonderful, now I have more experience, you get to know each athlete, their results, but always willing to give everything for Panama,” said Valdés.

In the unified classification, the para athlete competes alongside rivals who are in a category above her.

The Panamanian para athlete and also Secretary of the Paralympic Committee of Panama, arrived in Paris 2024 with interesting results during the qualification cycle, she was a gold medalist at the Arizona Deset Challenge (2024), won gold and silver at the Xalapa Grand Prix (2024) and ninth place at the Paris World Championships (2023).

The Para-athletics competitions will take place from 30 August to 8 September and are open to all disability classifications (physical, visual and intellectual).
