Friday, August 30th is the Feast of Saint Rose of Lima, in commemoration of the First Saint of America. This is a holiday and, together with Saturday and Sunday, it is a great opportunity to travel and actively participate in the reactivation of national tourism and promote domestic tourism.

Here are some suggestions of places that Peruvians can visit on this date:
1. SANTA ROSE OF QUIVES (Lima)
It is one of the favorite destinations in the Lima mountains. Its mild climate and permanent sunshine attract those seeking outdoor recreation. It has important cultural and archaeological resources. It is located at km 64 of the Lima – Canta highway. You can visit the hermitage of Santa Rosa de Lima and it is an ideal place for hiking and horseback riding.
2. SANCTUARY OF SANTA ROSA DE LIMA (Cercado de Lima)
Located on the first block of Tacna Avenue, this is the place where Santa Rosa de Lima was born and lived and has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1991. It is a beautiful religious complex with a temple and monastery, and a must-see for all of us who want to know more about the saint from Lima. Here visitors can see the hermitage she used to pray, the room where she cured the sick, as well as countless works of art inspired by her life and the Catholic faith. To the left of the sanctuary is the Garden of Santa Rosa, a beautiful and welcoming space where you can see the famous wishing well where every August 30th, visitors leave a letter asking for their most important and urgent wishes.
3. CASCAS (Freedom)
This town, with the title of “Pueblo con Encanto” (Charming Town), is privileged with a generous climate that allows it to be visited at any time of the year, as well as harvesting grapes twice a year, a fruit that has turned them into growing national producers with a share in the market for wines and grape cigars. But, in addition, in Cascas you can go hiking and appreciate beautiful landscapes that include sedimentary rock formations, which give life to one of its tourist resources: El Cristo de las Rocas (Christ of the Rocks), or gifts of nature such as “The tree of a thousand roots” a large fig tree that has its roots in the air.
4. LLACHON (Puno)
An hour from Juliaca, on the Capachica peninsula, is the Llachón community, where its members invite you to participate in their agricultural, livestock and fishing activities on the lake. You can also go on walks to discover the local fauna and flora, and do adventure activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, boating or sailing on Titicaca.
5. VILLA RICA (Pasco)
It is considered the birthplace of the most exquisite coffee in the world. It is an attraction that fuses the Yanesha, Austro-German and Andean cultures in one place. It is a highly sought-after destination for national and foreign tourists. Throughout its history, thanks to the commitment and tourist vocation of its people, the town of Villa Rica has been able to fully preserve its diverse cultural manifestations that are now exhibited to tourists in dances, music, clothing, gastronomy and crafts, in addition to the ancestral techniques for growing coffee. It should be noted that the town of Villa Rica was awarded the distinction of “Charming Town”.
