Jorge Chávez Cotrina, the coordinating prosecutor against organized crime, testified about the situation and comments made by the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, against the Prosecutor’s Office. He said that the minister should leave legal matters to his lawyer and should focus on the issues for which he has been appointed.

Regarding José Santiváñez’s statements against the Attorney General’s Office, he emphasized that he does not work with the minister but with the police commands, and if they consider the work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to be deficient, he proposed that they should pass a law so that people arrested in flagrante delicto are automatically imprisoned, leaving aside the request for preventive detention or other procedures.
